Prayer and Fasting: Halfway There!

Day number two in our season of fasting and prayer is in progress!

So how’s it going? Have you inadvertently slipped up, not thinking about it? That is very easy to do. Fasting is not something we do a lot, so when walking through the room we have to be careful that we don’t pop that piece of candy in our mouth, like we have a habit of doing. Oops! Now what do I do??

Not to worry, if you accidentally slip up just get right back to it. Or, if you had a moment of weakness and slipped up on purpose, go right back to it anyway. We’re not Superman, y’know. I don’t think God expects perfection, I think he does expect us to try our best.

Time for a quote:

“We observe that in the scriptures, fasting almost always is linked with prayer. Without prayer, fasting is not complete fasting; it’s simply going hungry.”

-Joseph B. Wirthlin

There is the key element: prayer! It is so important that we read scripture and lift up our prayers to the Lord, otherwise this is all just a very poor attempt at dieting. I hope that our prayers come from the heart, from deep within our heart, and in all love and honor rise up before the throne of God like pungent, sweet incense (the word picture given us in Revelation).

Pray hard!

And we’ll gather Wednesday night for our concert of prayer, and then let’s see what our Awesome God will do with us, his saints at SpringCreek Fellowship!
